Kalispell Chamber of Commerce Endorses CI-132
Kalispell, Mont. – Kalispell Chamber of Commerce has formally endorsed Constitutional Initiative 132 (CI-132), a measure that ensures Montana’s judicial elections remain nonpartisan.
“The Kalispell Chamber is endorsing CI-132 because our small businesses need fair, impartial, and consistent rulings on the cases they bring before our courts,” said Kalispell Chamber President and CEO Lorraine Clarno. “Business owners depend on the consistent application of the law so they can operate in a predictable environment that helps them create jobs and keep costs down. We need to keep politics out of our courts so our businesses can continue to contribute to the economic prosperity and sustainability of our community.”
CI-132 will ensure Montana’s judges are elected based on their record and qualifications, not politics, and keep judges accountable to the constitution, not political parties and their money. Alongside the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, CI-132 is endorsed by nine retired Montana Supreme Court Justices, over 40 retired District Court Judges, and dozens of Montana legal experts, retired sheriffs, and criminal prosecutors who have seen firsthand the importance of giving people a fair hearing and keeping politics out of our courtrooms.
“We are honored to receive the endorsement of the Kalispell Chamber as they join over 60% of Montanans who want to keep our judicial elections nonpartisan,” said CI-132 spokesperson Caitie Butler. “Courts are supposed to be fair to everyone no matter what they’re worth or who they know. Small business owners who find themselves in court over employment, copyright, insurance, and partnership disputes deserve fair and impartial judges that will rule only on the facts and the law and not be swayed by politics and the money it runs on.”
